Police and 'Aras' apprehend armed robbers planning a new attack in the Vilnius region

Three individuals suspected of committing armed robbery have been apprehended in the Vilnius region while planning another similar crime.

In the Vilnius region, three suspects have been detained on charges of committing an armed robbery, as reported by the Vilnius County Police Headquarters. The criminals were caught by the Criminal Investigation Department's property crime unit, in collaboration with the Antiterrorist Operations team 'Aras', preventing further crimes of a similar nature.

According to the investigation data, in January this year, two suspects arranged a meeting with a victim at a remote location, pretending to sell copper that the victim intended to purchase. During the meeting, one of the suspects used pepper spray on the victim to incapacitate him, while the other physically assaulted him, demanding money and stealing two of the victim's iPhone phones. When the victim stated he had no money, one of the suspects pointed a gun at his head.

The successful operation led to the apprehension of these armed robbers highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Lithuania to combat violent crime. This case underscores not only the dangers of such confrontations but also stresses the importance of police collaboration in swiftly addressing and preventing criminal activities.
