A recent unannounced inspection by electricity company Radius found that one in three dining establishments in Greater Copenhagen was stealing electricity.
The Danish electricity company Radius conducted unannounced inspections at dining establishments in the Greater Copenhagen area and discovered a concerning trend: roughly one-third of these establishments were tapping electricity illegally, circumventing the standard electricity meters. Cäthe Bay-Smidt, the functional manager at Radius, noted during the inspections that the company checked approximately 50-60 restaurants, leading to the alarming finding that instances of electricity theft were prevalent across many venues. This issue not only indicates potential financial losses for the electricity provider but also raises concerns about fair competition among businesses.
