Danyang World Geopark, Exchange and Cooperation with Parks in China and Malaysia
Danyang County in South Korea is initiating global cooperation with UNESCO-designated World Geoparks in China and Malaysia through the signing of memorandums of understanding.
Danyang County, located in South Korea's Chungcheongbuk-do province, is actively engaging in international cooperation with World Geoparks in Asia, particularly in China and Malaysia. This initiative includes the signing of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to promote the global recognition and administration of Danyang as a UNESCO World Geopark. The efforts were announced on the 17th, highlighting Danyang's aspiration to become a significant player in the international geopark network. UNESCO recognizes sites of significant geological, archaeological, and ecological value, and has designated 229 locations worldwide. Within South Korea, the Danyang geopark was among seven sites designated as World Geoparks, enhancing its profile as a location of natural and historical importance.
