Sille Pettai leaves the position of CEO of SmartCap
Sille Pettai, a board member and fund director at SmartCap, is leaving her position at the end of June.
Sille Pettai, a key figure at SmartCap, has announced her resignation from her role as a board member and fund director, with her last working day set for the end of June. This decision comes as SmartCap continues to manage three funds, which collectively are approaching a volume of 500 million euros. Under Pettai's leadership, the company has been instrumental in shaping the Estonian capital market.
According to Priit Põldoja, the chairman of the SmartCap council, Pettai has played a pivotal role in fostering the ecosystem for capital attraction in Estonia over the past decade, transforming the environment from a market with only a handful of operational funds to one where local startups can secure investment from both local and leading international venture capitalists. This growth has been fueled by collaboration with the Estonian startup community.
SmartCap currently operates three distinct funds: the SmartCap Venture Capital Fund, the SmartCap Green Fund, and the SmartCap Defense Fund. These funds have gained substantial support, and their collective asset volume approaching 500 million euros indicates the significant impact SmartCap has made in enhancing opportunities for Estonian companies looking to engage with new local and international investors.
