Kaduna builds 36km road to link 66 farming communities
The Kaduna State government has started constructing a 36km road that will connect 66 farming communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, enhancing their access and socio-economic development.
The Kaduna State government, led by Governor Uba Sani, has initiated the construction of a significant 36-kilometre road known as the Bagoma–Gagumi road. This project aims to connect 66 farming communities within the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, marking a critical investment in rural infrastructure. During an inspection visit, Abdullahi Ahmed, the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency, emphasized the road's potential to transform the socio-economic landscape of the region by improving access to markets and resources.
The Bagoma–Gagumi road is set to surpass the recently completed Gadan Gayan–Gwaraji–Kujama road, which was already one of the longest constructed during the current administration. The previous 35-kilometre road extends across three local government areas: Igabi, Kajuru, and Chikun, and includes a vital 130-metre bridge over the Kaduna River, further enhancing connectivity for rural communities. Such infrastructure projects not only facilitate transportation but also enhance trade opportunities, thereby contributing to the economic development of the involved areas.
As the construction progresses, it is expected that the Bagoma–Gagumi road will play a significant role in improving the livelihoods of the local farmers and residents by providing them with better access to markets and public services. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to addressing rural infrastructure deficits and fostering sustainable economic growth while promoting agricultural productivity in Kaduna State.
