The Nigerian Federal Government announced that the Abuja-Kaduna highway is now 80% completed, aiming for full delivery by the end of April.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has stated that the crucial Abuja-Kaduna highway is 80% complete, with 60 kilometers of redesigned concrete pavement already finished. The announcement was made during a project inspection by the Ministry of Works, highlighting the government’s determination to enhance this significant transport corridor. With the project's deadline set for the end of April, officials expressed optimism about its timely completion, reflecting a commitment to improve infrastructure within the region.
The Abuja-Kaduna highway project is currently under the management of Infouest Nigeria Limited, after the previous contract with Julius Berger Nigeria PLC was terminated due to various challenges. This transition emphasizes the government's approach to ensuring that the project stays on track despite past difficulties. Chukwuma Kalu, the project’s Controller of Works, referred to the highway as "the heartbeat of the nation," underlining its importance to Nigeria’s transport network and economic functionality.
The completion of the Abuja-Kaduna highway is anticipated not only to facilitate better movement of goods and people but also to bolster economic activities along this vital route. The initiative signals a broader commitment by the Nigerian government to address infrastructural deficits and improve travel safety and efficiency, and it is expected to positively impact local communities and enhance national connectivity.
