Seoul Women's University Lifelong Education Center Selected for 'Seoul My College' for Three Consecutive Years
Seoul Women's University Lifelong Education Center has been selected for the 'Seoul My College' initiative for the third consecutive year, focusing on lifelong learning and community involvement.
The Lifelong Education Center at Seoul Women's University, led by Director Noh Seung-yong, has been selected for the 'Seoul My College' program organized by the Seoul Metropolitan City Lifelong Education Promotion Agency for the third year in a row. This initiative not only endorses the 'certification-type' project but also emphasizes a citizen-participatory lifelong learning model known as 'subscription university,' expanding the lifelong education model associated with the university. The goal is to provide high-quality lifelong education opportunities to citizens, using university education infrastructure and expertise, and to connect academic achievements with professional and social activities.
This year, the lifelong education center is operating the 'SWU L.I.F.E Micro Degree Program,' which focuses on creating local value, enhancing integrated intelligence, fostering financial independence, and promoting social connectivity. The curriculum supports midlife learners through various educational programs, including talks on necessary cognitive skills in the age of AI, cultural heritage interpretation, botanical art, and digital ethics in social media marketing. There are a total of nine programs designed to enhance digital skills, emotional intelligence, and creative content creation, with learners receiving a 'Micro Degree' certification and digital badges upon completion based on project outputs and portfolios.
Additionally, the 'subscription university' project features citizen-participatory humanities programs, such as the 'Seoul Citizen Healing Humanities: Body, Mind, and Cultural Recovery Course.' This course enables midlife citizens to reflect on their lives and restore healthy relationships and emotional competencies through various topics including sexuality and life humanities, stress healing and communication in modern society, and traditional pottery aesthetics alongside healing arts. Since its establishment in 1991, the Lifelong Education Center has been actively operating various lifelong education programs linked to the community, catering to the educational needs of midlife citizens.
