Seoul Women's University Lifelong Education Center Opens 'Nowon Youth Psychological Counseling Center'

Seoul Women’s University has opened the 'Nowon Youth Psychological Counseling Center' to provide specialized psychological counseling services for local youth.

On February 25, Seoul Women’s University Lifelong Education Center inaugurated the 'Nowon Youth Psychological Counseling Center' in Gwangwoon University Station's Hyundai Prahills. This initiative aims to support local youth facing mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and career-related stress, which have been increasingly recognized as social issues. By leveraging the university's counseling expertise and educational infrastructure, the center seeks to establish a more systematic psychological support framework for the community. The center will offer a range of services including individual counseling, group programs, psychological testing, coaching on career and interpersonal relationships, as well as mental health workshops and preventive education.

The Nowon Youth Psychological Counseling Center is targeted at young people aged 19 to 39 and plans to enhance its services by focusing on early detection of at-risk youth and maintaining follow-up management. The goal is to provide continuous support for recovery and growth, moving beyond one-time consultations. The Lifelong Education Center has historically served as a local hub for adult learners and has recently expanded its training programs to produce professionals in the field of psychology and counseling. Through the establishment of this center, they aim to strengthen their role in providing locally-based psychological support for youth while connecting education with counseling services.

Director of the Lifelong Education Center, No Seung-yong, remarked that the Nowon Youth Psychological Counseling Center is more than just a counseling space; it is a professional support institution designed to help young people reflect on their lives and plan for their future. He emphasized the commitment to systematically support the mental health of youth in collaboration with the community. The opening ceremony was attended by over 50 individuals, including the mayor of Nowon, members of the National Assembly, local councilors, university officials, and residents, who gathered to share the center's operational directions and partnership strategies.
