A second Moomin World is being planned for Finland

Rovaniemi is planning to establish a Moomin-themed amusement park near Santa Claus Village to boost international and domestic tourism.

Rovaniemi city is set to develop a second Moomin-themed amusement park, as announced by the municipality, targeted specifically at increasing tourism in the region. This smaller park will be located in the vicinity of Santa Claus Village and is expected to be a less extensive version than the original Moomin World in Naantali. A unique feature of this new park will be Moomin-themed accommodation, enhancing the visitor experience.

Tim Livson, the chairman of Moomin World Oy, emphasized the importance of this project for Rovaniemi, highlighting the city's strong international tourist appeal and its objectives to expand summer tourism. He noted that the Moomin brand is internationally recognized and appealing, which aligns with the ambition to develop year-round tourism in the area. By establishing the park, Rovaniemi aims to draw both foreign tourists and provide an easier option for domestic visitors who may find a trip to Naantali prohibitive due to distance.

The Rovaniemi city council has officially allocated land within the Santa Claus Village area for the new amusement park, although the decision is not yet legally binding. The Moomin characters could potentially debut in Rovaniemi by next winter, pending further development and approvals. This initiative represents a strategic move to capitalize on the whimsical charm of the Moomin brand while boosting the local economy through enhanced tourism offerings, especially during the summer months.
