Shinsegae Group has announced its intention to build an ultra-large data center in South Korea, partnering with Reflection AI, a US-based artificial intelligence company. The partnership aims to leverage AI as a key driver for future growth, with plans to establish a 'Korean Sovereign AI Factory' through a strategic partnership agreement signed by Shinsegae Chairman Jeong Yong-jin and Reflection CEO Misha Laskin in San Francisco. The data center is designed to have an initial power capacity of 250 megawatts, with potential expansions planned, indicating a significant investment in AI infrastructure in the region.
This ambitious project, which will source essential GPUs from Nvidia, is positioned as part of Shinsegae's broader strategy to enhance its cloud services and provide tailored AI solutions, creating a 'full-stack AI factory.'
