Bandits kill one, abduct seven in Kaduna community
Gunmen attacked Sabon Gyero community in Kaduna State, resulting in one death and seven abductions.
In a tragic incident in Sabon Gyero community, located in Millennium City within the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, gunmen suspected to be bandits launched a significant attack during the early hours of Monday. The assailants invaded the residential area, resulting in the death of one individual and the abduction of seven others, including three women and four children. The unpredictability and brutality of such attacks highlight the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in the region.
The attack not only led to tragic loss of life but also involved the raiding of a phone charging center, where the gunmen shot and killed a young man named Abdullahi Lawal, who was recognized in the community for his unique standing due to being deaf and non-verbal. Lawal sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and tragically succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. This incident underscores the vulnerabilities faced by individuals with disabilities in conflict situations, raising concerns over their safety.
In addition to the fatalities, the bandits reportedly stole several mobile phones and laptops from the charging center before fleeing the scene, illustrating a pattern of violence and robbery that has become increasingly prevalent in the area. This incident could exacerbate local fears and tensions, igniting calls for improved security measures from local authorities as residents remain on edge amid ongoing threats from bandits, which have plagued Kaduna State in recent years.
