Residents protest as bandits abduct seven in fresh Kaduna attack
Residents in Kaduna, Nigeria protested against recurring kidnappings after seven individuals were abducted by bandits in a recent attack.
Residents of the Danhonu II community in New Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, took to the streets on Monday to protest against the alarming rate of kidnappings plaguing their area. This demonstration was sparked by a recent incident in which seven individuals were kidnapped by suspected bandits. The protestors, expressing their growing frustration and fear, marched to the Millennium City Divisional Police Headquarters, blocking a major road and demanding immediate action from law enforcement to ensure their safety and security.
The kidnapping, which occurred late on Sunday night, involved armed assailants invading the community and forcibly taking members of two families. Among those abducted were Yahaya Yusuf, his wife Latifat, and their two sons, as well as Mrs Abdulrazak Jimoh and two of her children. This attack has added to an escalating trend of violence in the region, with locals reporting a total of 11 kidnapping incidents in just a few months, raising serious concerns about the adequacy of security measures in place.
The community's protest highlights the urgent need for government and police intervention to tackle the issue of banditry and kidnapping in Kaduna State. Residents are increasingly feeling unsafe in their homes, and this latest incident has deepened fears of ongoing violence. With insecurity on the rise, the situation has prompted calls for a stronger response from the authorities, as citizens seek to regain a sense of safety in their everyday lives.
