Two more newly built gas carriers for the Vafeias group
The Vafeias shipping group has received its 36th and 37th gas carriers, named Eco Texania and Eco Nebula, constructed in Japan for approximately $80 million.
The Vafeias shipping group, led by Charis Vafeias, has expanded its fleet with the acquisition of two newly built gas carriers, Eco Texania and Eco Nebula, both of which were constructed at Japan's Sasaki Shipyard at a combined cost of around $80 million. These vessels are designed to transport vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and have a capacity of 11,000 cubic meters each, bearing the flag of the Marshall Islands and classified by Bureau Veritas.
These latest additions bring the group's total to five gas carriers, managed by their private companies, with three of these listed on the American stock market. Furthermore, the Vafeias group is actively expanding its operations, with an additional 13 energy transport vessels under construction, consisting of a mix of MR, LR2, and Suezmax tankers being built at Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea.
This strategic growth reflects the group's commitment to enhancing its presence in the energy transport sector, aligning with global demands in shipping and energy. The capital investment in new technology and vessels indicates a forward-looking approach in an increasingly competitive maritime industry, aimed at optimizing logistics for energy-related products such as VCM.
