Two more VLCCs for Pantheon Tanker

Pantheon Tanker, part of Anna Angelicoussis' group, is rapidly expanding its shipbuilding program by ordering new Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) from Chinese firms.

Pantheon Tanker, under the management of Anna Angelicoussis' group, is making significant strides in expanding its shipbuilding program. They have formed a partnership with the Chinese shipbuilding company Hengli Heavy Industry for the construction of four new Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) with a capacity of approximately 306,000 deadweight tons (dwt). This order reflects a growing ambition to modernize and expand their fleet of crude oil tankers.

In addition to the VLCCs, Pantheon Tanker has previously ordered two Suezmax tankers, which have a capacity of around 157,000 dwt, from COSCO's shipyards in Yangzhou, China. These new vessels will feature dual-fuel propulsion, indicating a strategic shift towards more efficient and environmentally friendly shipping solutions. This focus on sustainability in shipping aligns with global trends to minimize the carbon footprint of maritime transport.

Moreover, the group is demonstrating a robust activity in the newbuilding sector, with their LNG carrier management company, Alpha Gas, signing contracts for two LNG carriers to be built in South Korea. Furthermore, Alpha Bulkers has placed orders for 11 feeder containerships at various shipyards in China. This series of new orders underscores the group's commitment to strengthening its position in the maritime industry through fleet modernization and diversification.
