Fire on the outskirts of Vilnius: a minibus in a field turned into a torch

A minibus in a field near Vilnius caught fire but did not endanger nearby structures or people.

On Monday afternoon, firefighters responded to reports of thick black smoke rising from behind buildings along the Molėtų highway, initially unclear what was burning. It was confirmed that a minibus parked in an open area, away from roads and parking lots, had caught fire. Fire Department spokesperson Edita Zdanevičienė confirmed that the vehicle was engulfed in flames, although fortunately, the surrounding grassland and other nearby properties remained unharmed, and no people were affected by the incident.

The incident occurred near a well-known landmark, the Norfa shopping center, which helped witnesses describe the location of the fire. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, and by 2:34 PM, the fire was completely extinguished. The effective response of the fire department minimized the potential impact of the fire, ensuring safety for both the environment and the public in the vicinity.

This occurrence draws attention to fire safety regulations, especially in open spaces, as vehicles can pose significant risks if not monitored. The incident underscores the importance of timely reporting and the rapid response of emergency services in preventing potential disasters in residential areas.
