The roof of townhouses burned in the outskirts of Vilnius - firefighters ripped off the sheets

A fire occurred at townhouses in the outskirts of Vilnius, but no one was injured as the firefighters managed to control the situation without open flames.

On March 6, a fire was reported at townhouses on Santariškės Street in Vilnius around 3:20 PM, when a passerby noticed smoke emanating from the structure. Firefighters arrived on the scene and confirmed that smoke was pouring from the ventilation shaft of the townhouses; however, they did not observe any open flames initially. After further investigation, firefighters located the fire source, which had spread to the roofs of six interconnected townhouses, prompting them to remove the roof sheets in order to extinguish the fire effectively.

Fortunately, there were no individuals inside the townhouses at the time of the incident, and as a result, no injuries were reported. The firefighting operation involved the deployment of four fire trucks and aerial ladders to address the situation rapidly. The fire service's prompt response likely prevented further damage and ensured the safety of the nearby residents as they managed to contain the incident without the fire escalating into a more serious crisis.

As the investigation into the cause of the fire continues, local authorities may gather insights that could lead to improved safety measures for residential areas, particularly in preventing similar incidents in the future. The involvement of local firefighters reflects the rigorous emergency response efforts in Lithuania, showcasing the importance of community readiness in responding to such emergencies.
