Two fires within half an hour near Pilaitė in Vilnius: a car and grass were burning
In Vilnius, Lithuania, two fires occurred within a half-hour period, involving a car fire and burning grass, prompting immediate responses from the fire department.
On Wednesday afternoon, shortly after 3:06 PM, authorities received a report of a burning car on Ievos Simonaitytės Street in Vilnius, which was promptly extinguished. Just 17 minutes later, another report was filed regarding grass and branches ablaze on Baltynės Street, covering an area of approximately 100 meters. Firefighting units responded quickly to both incidents, with three fire trucks dispatched to Baltynės Street and two to Pilaitė.
As of now, the cause of the fires remains unknown. Giedrius Vičiulis, a senior specialist at the Fire and Rescue Department's Situation Coordination Division, stated that investigations into the cause will commence only after the fires have been fully extinguished and the scenes examined. Vičiulis noted that preliminary causes for both incidents have not yet been established, indicating that further inquiry will be necessary to understand the circumstances surrounding the fires.
Fortunately, there are currently no reported injuries from either fire event. The quick response from the firefighting units has likely prevented further damage and ensured community safety. Such incidents raise concerns about fire hazards in urban areas, highlighting the importance of fire prevention measures and community awareness regarding potential fire risks.
