The Minister of Education to Visit Sejny and Suwałki, Meeting with Representatives of Schools for Lithuanians Abroad
Lithuania's Education Minister will visit Sejny and Suwałki to meet with representatives from schools for Lithuanians living abroad and address current issues in Lithuanian education.
Lithuania's Minister of Education, R. Popovienė, is set to participate in a seminar in Sejny focused on the leadership of general education institutions for Lithuanians abroad. During the seminar, discussions will center on the issues facing Lithuanian schools, providing a platform for dialogue among various stakeholders involved in Lithuanian education. This visit highlights the importance of addressing the unique needs of Lithuanian schools outside the country, as well as fostering connections within the Lithuanian diaspora.
In addition to the seminar, Minister Popovienė will tour educational institutions, including the newly established Lithuanian kindergarten facilities in Suwałki, enhancing her understanding of the educational landscape for Lithuanian children abroad. This initiative not only showcases the Lithuanian government's commitment to its citizens living overseas but also emphasizes the significance of nurturing Lithuanian culture and education among younger generations, irrespective of geographic boundaries.
The roundtable discussions at the event will include representatives from Lithuania's embassy and consulate in Sejny, focusing on the integration of cultural education into Lithuanian schooling. School representatives from various institutions in the region, including Sejny's "Žiburio" school and schools from Punsko, Riga, Germany, Brussels, and Luxembourg, will also participate, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among educators dedicated to preserving and promoting Lithuanian culture abroad.
