Arrest of Fake RPF Officer to Please Family: Arrested in Prayagraj

A fake Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer has been arrested in Prayagraj for traveling for free on trains while impersonating a real officer.

In Prayagraj, police have arrested a young man identified as Divyanshu Kumar, who posed as a Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer to travel for free on trains. The arrest was made by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at platform number one of Prayagraj railway station. Divyanshu, 22, confessed during questioning that he adopted this guise because his family was pressuring him to secure a job, and he wanted to satisfy them by appearing to have a position of authority.

Divyanshu Kumar hails from Renga village in the Baresar police station area of Ghazipur district. In his attempt to masquerade as an RPF officer, he wore a uniform complete with badges, stars, and other insignia. This impersonation enabled him to travel without paying, highlighting the lengths to which individuals might go in unmet job expectations and family pressures in India. The act not only showcases a personal dilemma but also raises concerns regarding security protocols on trains, as fake officers could pose significant threats to passengers and railway safety.

As investigations continue, authorities are likely to examine how widespread the issue of impersonation might be within railway services and the potential risks involved. This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by young individuals in India as they navigate familial expectations in an increasingly competitive job market.
