Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and Naver Cloud Collaborate on AI Talent Development and Smart Campus Construction

Hankuk University of Foreign Studies has signed a memorandum of understanding with Naver Cloud to enhance industry-academia collaboration in AI education and research innovation, aiming for the establishment of a smart campus.

Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Naver Cloud on March 13, to strengthen cooperation in AI-based education and research innovation, as well as the construction of a smart campus. This collaboration was initiated to leverage the strengths and resources of both institutions, aiming to create an innovative ecosystem in the field of AI through joint research, talent cultivation, and the establishment of AI infrastructure.

The agreement outlines various cooperative efforts, including the establishment of AI infrastructure, support for the university's AI transition, the construction of an AI-centered smart campus, and participation in AI-centered projects. These initiatives are aimed at fostering an extensive network for AI education and research, as well as cross-industry collaboration. Notably, the collaboration is expected to significantly enhance the educational and research environment at HUFS by integrating AI technology and by expanding joint educational programs.

The president of HUFS, Kang Ki-hun, emphasized the importance of the collaboration as a milestone for creating future-oriented educational and research environments based on AI. He expressed hope that this partnership would evolve into a model of successful industry-academia cooperation, creating new value across various fields by merging global knowledge in language, area studies, humanities with AI technology. Naver Cloud's representative, Kim Yoo-won, highlighted the ambition of fostering an innovative ecosystem where AI technology can be applied effectively in educational and research settings, supporting HUFS as a testbed for innovation based on AI and cloud technologies.
