Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Completes Collaborative Korean Language Short Course with Foreign Learners and Aspiring Korean Language Teachers
Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies successfully concluded a three-week Korean language short course aimed at foreign learners residing in Korea.
Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies announced the successful completion of a three-week Korean language short course on February 7, designed for foreign learners living in Korea. This course saw participation from multinational foreign learners and was led by Yoo Jeong-eun, a graduate of the university's Korean language department. With experience teaching Korean as a foreign language at various universities, Yoo efficiently conducted the classes, aiding foreign learners in understanding and using the Korean language systematically.
In addition, five undergraduate students majoring in Korean education participated as Korean Teaching Assistants (KTA), assisting in class support and small group activities. The KTAs observed Yoo's teaching, engaged in supportive activities, and facilitated participation in the lessons, thus enhancing the learners' comprehension and engagement. This collaborative education model was significant, as it provided foreign learners with practical experience of using Korean and motivation for learning, while also offering the KTAs hands-on teaching experience in communicating directly with learners.
Professor Song Eun-jeong, who organized the program, emphasized the course's focus on learner-centered instruction and interaction to offer practical Korean language usage experiences. She expressed hope that the course served as a meaningful learning opportunity for both foreign learners and aspiring teachers. The Korean language department at Cyber Hankuk University seeks to nurture professionals in Korean language and culture through a combination of theory and practice, underscoring its goal of being a 'hub for global Korean language education.' The university is also recruiting new and transfer students for the first semester of the 2026 academic year until February 12.
