Guayaquil has set new operating hours for its municipal markets in response to a curfew and mobility restrictions from March 15 to 31, 2026.
In light of the impending curfew, the General Directorate of Canton Aseo, Markets, and Special Services of the Guayaquil Mayor's Office has informed the public of the new operational hours for municipal markets. This adjustment comes as part of ongoing security measures and current mobility restrictions aimed at ensuring the proper functioning and supply of markets across the city.
From March 15 to March 31, 2026, municipal markets will operate daily between 5:30 AM and 10:00 PM. These hours were established to accommodate each market's operational needs while allowing for essential commerce to continue. The local authorities prioritize maintaining a steady supply of goods while adhering to the newly implemented curfew rules.
By maintaining these extended hours, the municipal government expects to facilitate the procurement of products, the entry of goods, and the timely provision of food and essential items for citizens. This initiative highlights the cityβs commitment to addressing the needs of its residents amid ongoing security challenges and aims to support local commerce in maintaining a stable environment during the curfew period.
