Curfew: These are the new hours for shopping centers in Guayaquil

New curfew hours will affect shopping centers in Guayaquil starting March 15, with adjusted operating hours to comply with the curfew requirement.

Starting March 15, a curfew will be enforced in four provinces of Ecuador, including Guayas, El Oro, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, and Los Ríos, where citizens will face restrictions on movement during the night. The executive decree mandates that no one is allowed to be on the streets from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM to combat organized crime, with law enforcement set to conduct operations targeting criminal activity during this period.

In light of these new regulations, several shopping malls in Guayaquil have announced changes in their operational hours to accommodate the curfew. For example, Mall del Sol will be open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Sundays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, while their food court hours will extend until 9:00 PM on weekends. Similarly, Riocentro will adjust its hours, and these changes are expected to last from March 15 to 31.

These measures highlight the government's efforts to address rising crime rates in the region and enforce public safety. The curfew aims to reduce nighttime criminal activities that have become more prevalent, and the adjusted business hours reflect the impact of such policies on local businesses and consumers alike, who must now navigate these new restrictions while managing their daily activities.
