Latvia's biathlon team shows the worst shooting accuracy in the mixed relay; Sweden triumphs

Sweden secured a convincing victory in the mixed relay, finishing with a time of 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 17 seconds, while Latvia's team struggled with shooting accuracy in a challenging season.

In the recent biathlon mixed relay event, Sweden's team composed of Viktor Brant, Martin Ponsiluoma, Anna-Karin Heijdenberg, and Elvira Eberga achieved a remarkable victory, completing the course in 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 17 seconds. This event highlighted the challenges faced by the Latvian biathlon team, particularly in terms of their shooting accuracy which was noted as the worst among the competitors. The team has had a challenging season with several of its members participating in multiple competitions of varying ranks.

Latvia's coach, Agnese Caune, in an interview with Latvian Television, revealed that the health issues of younger team members, including Volley, Elza Bleidele, and Rihards Lozbers, affected their performance. Notably, Lozbers did not participate in any of the relays due to these health concerns. With a starting number of 17 in the relay, the team was hopeful despite the setbacks, as they sought to regain their footing in the competitive landscape.

During the competition, Rastorgujev, who had the first leg of the relay, adopted a cautious skiing approach before reaching the shooting range. This strategy proved beneficial as he displayed improved shooting accuracy while lying down, although the overall team performance still reflected the difficulties they have encountered throughout the season. The juxtaposition of Sweden's success against Latvia’s struggles emphasizes the need for strategic revisions and bolstered support for the athletes as they prepare for future competitions.
