The Latvian biathlon team finished 15th in a relay event, competing against 22 teams and facing challenges including two penalty laps.

In a recent biathlon relay event, the Latvian team finished in 15th place among 22 competing teams. The winning Norwegian team, comprised of Juhaness Dale-Shevdal, Sturla Holm Laegreid, Juhans Olavs Botn, and Vetle Sjastad Kristiansen, completed the race without penalty laps and used only seven extra cartridges. The French team took second place, trailing the Norwegians by 16.1 seconds, while the Swedish team secured third place, finishing 48.1 seconds behind the winners after incurring one penalty lap.

Latvian athletes Andrejs Rastorgujevs and Aleksandrs Patrijuks executed their legs of the race, with Rastorgujevs skiing in the first leg and Patrijuks finishing in the last. Despite facing penalties, they were able to leverage their reserve cartridges effectively to hit all targets. Rastorgujevs made a notable performance in his first shooting round, using two additional cartridges to close all targets but placed the team in 18th position initially, 15.4 seconds behind the Finnish leader. However, he improved during the skiing phase, swiftly returning to the top 10.

In his second shooting round, Rastorgujevs showed speed but struggled with precision, missing three targets. Nevertheless, the overall performance showcased the resilience and competitive spirit of the Latvian team, even though they faced challenges along the way. The event highlighted not only the strengths of the Latvian athletes but also the overall competitive landscape of international biathlon, as they continue to develop their skills in such high-stakes environments.
