Over 1,200 electric vehicles added to the country's vehicle fleet in February
In February, Lithuania registered 1,227 new passenger electric vehicles, indicating a growing trend towards electrification in the country's transport sector.
In February, Lithuania's vehicle registration data revealed the addition of 1,227 new passenger electric vehicles to the fleet, highlighting a significant trend towards electric mobility in the country. Among these, 564 were fully electric vehicles, while 663 were plug-in hybrids. Additionally, the month saw the registration of 13 light commercial electric vehicles, showcasing diverse growth in the electric vehicle sector.
As of March 1, the total number of passenger cars registered in Lithuania stood at 46,631, with fully electric vehicles making up a notable portion, specifically 24,248 fully electric cars and 22,383 plug-in hybrids. The data illustrates a rapid increase in electric vehicle adoption compared to the previous year when the count of light electric vehicles in the national registry was only 30,764. This growth reflects a shift in consumer preferences and increasing support for sustainable transport options in the country.
Currently, electric vehicles represent 2.54% of the total passenger car fleet in Lithuania, with fully electric cars at 1.32% and light commercial electric vehicles accounting for 1.18%. These figures underline the ongoing transition of Lithuania's transport sector toward greener solutions, indicating both an opportunity for improved environmental outcomes and challenges related to infrastructure and charging facilities that will need to evolve alongside vehicle adoption.
