Latvian athlete Dženifera Ģērmane successfully qualified for the second run of the slalom event during the penultimate World Cup competition of the season, taking place in Sweden. The second run is set to begin at 13:30 Latvian time, with live coverage on the 'Eurosport 1' channel. Currently holding the leading position after the first run is American skier Mikaela Shiffrin, who completed the course in 50.22 seconds, putting her 0.51 seconds ahead of German skier Emma Aicher and Austrian skier Katharina Truppe, who followed closely behind.
Ģērmane, who started with bib number 18, finished the first run with a time 1.71 seconds behind Shiffrin, earning her 13th place among the competitors. Out of 70 ski racers, the top 30 qualified for the second run. Prior to this event, Ģērmane participated in the Olympic Games last month and had competed in her last World Cup race two months prior, where she was unable to finish the first runs of either event. Notably, she had a significant breakthrough in early January, achieving a personal best by securing 7th place in the World Cup slalom, setting a new record for independent Latvia in alpine skiing.
