Mountain skier Ģērmane does not reach the finish line, Bondare outside top 50 after the first run
Latvia's leading alpine skier Dženifera Ģērmane failed to finish the slalom race, while Liene Bondare placed just outside the top 50.
In a disappointing display at the slalom competition, Latvia's leading alpine skier Dženifera Ģērmane did not complete her run, which was marked by a mishap early on when she failed to navigate through the gates with one of her skis. As an Olympic debutant, this setback was particularly challenging for her. With her run ending prematurely, attention shifted to fellow athlete Liene Bondare, who followed closely behind the mishap.
Liene Bondare took to the course with a starting number of 67 and managed to complete her first run in 53.95 seconds, placing her 53rd after her performance. Although this time leaves her outside the top 50 competitors, she still showed resilience by finishing the race despite the formidable competition. The winner of the first run was the main favorite, Mikaela Shiffrin from the USA, who established a significant lead over the rest of the field.
The second run is scheduled to take place at 14:30 Latvian time, and fans can follow the event live on LTV7, LSM.lv, and replay.lv. This event marks a crucial moment for both athletes, particularly for Bondare as she seeks to improve her standings in future competitions.
