A bus carrying Indian pilgrims in Nepal fell into a gorge, resulting in seven fatalities and nine injuries.
A tragic road accident occurred in Nepal when a bus filled with Indian pilgrims slid off a mountain road and fell into a gorge. The incident led to the death of seven Indian travelers and injured nine others, as reported by local police on Sunday. The bus was returning from a visit to the famous Manakamana Temple, a significant Hindu pilgrimage site in Nepal known for fulfilling the wishes of its devotees.
The accident took place on Saturday night near Shahid Lakhan village, roughly 120 kilometers west of Kathmandu, along the winding mountain road leading to the temple. It was stated that the bus was going down a slope when the driver lost control at a turn, causing the vehicle to tumble approximately 150 meters down the steep incline into a deep gorge. This incident highlights the dangers associated with travel on the rugged roads in this part of Nepal, often used by pilgrims.
Following the accident, local police and villagers promptly arrived at the scene to assist those affected. They worked together to rescue the injured from the wreckage and arranged for their transport to medical facilities. This tragic event raises concerns about road safety in mountainous regions and the need for better measures to prevent such accidents in the future, especially for the large number of pilgrims traveling to popular sites like Manakamana Temple.
