A serious bus accident occurred near Kathmandu, Nepal, resulting in the death of 17 individuals when a passenger bus traveling from Pokhara plunged into the Trishuli River. Among the deceased were 6 women and 11 men, with reports indicating that a foreign tourist from New Zealand was also among the victims. The accident happened around 1 AM on the Prithvi Highway as the bus fell approximately 300 meters down the riverbank, severely damaging the vehicle.

Rescue operations faced significant challenges due to the nighttime conditions, difficult terrain, and a shortage of rescue materials. Rescue teams had to use boats to bring the injured up to a kilometer away from the site before they could be transported to hospitals via ambulance. District Official Suvedi noted the difficulties in conducting the operations in such adverse conditions and emphasized the need for more rescue supplies to aid the efforts effectively.

A total of 27 individuals were reported hospitalized following the incident, highlighting the severity of the accident and the impact on the local community.
