Heat records are breaking each other, and tomorrow is likely to bring another one

Meteorologists report that Lithuania is experiencing a series of unusually high temperature records, with the most recent record set 15 years ago expected to be surpassed again tomorrow.

Lithuania is witnessing a trend of increasingly frequent temperature records, with the latest occurrence marking the fourth highest temperature record this year alone. The meteorological data indicates that this year's warm temperatures are significantly surpassing cold temperatures, a notable shift in weather patterns that has escalated over the past five years, with heat records being measured on average eight times more often than cold records. The previous record for this date, set 15 years ago in Varėna, was 14.0 °C, but forecasts suggest that this will likely be exceeded as temperatures rise to between 11-16 °C in various regions, including the Kuršių Nerija.
