The meteorological data indicates that this year's warm temperatures are significantly surpassing cold temperatures, a notable shift in weather patterns that has escalated over the past five years, with heat records being measured on average eight times more often than cold records. The previous record for this date, set 15 years ago in Varėna, was 14.0 °C, but forecasts suggest that this will likely be exceeded as temperatures rise to between 11-16 °C in various regions, including the Kuršių Nerija.
