Cloudy Nationwide with Temperature Difference of About 15 Degrees…Daytime Temperatures Similar to Yesterday
Temperatures across South Korea are expected to have a significant daytime-nighttime difference, particularly inland, with health advisories in place due to the cold.
On Saturday, December 14, the majority of South Korea will experience cloudy weather with daytime and nighttime temperatures differing significantly by about 15 degrees, particularly in the inland regions. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted daytime temperatures to range from 10 to 15 degrees, similar to those recorded the previous day, while cautioning that the temperature variation could reach as much as 20 degrees in certain inland areas of North Gyeongsang. Moreover, while the central region is expected to be largely overcast, the southern areas may see moments of cloudiness, and Jeju Island is likely to be mostly clear.
The coastlines along the East Sea and Jeju will experience strong waves, which may lead to high water levels reaching shorelines, posing a risk of safety incidents along the coasts. Residents are advised to take extra precautions due to the potential for hazardous conditions. Additionally, with morning temperatures expected to dip below freezing in the days ahead, caution is warranted on icy roads and pavements. Areas such as inland Chungcheong and southern regions may experience frost, particularly on the 16th, disrupting outdoor activities and commuting.
The Korea Meteorological Administration also highlighted that tomorrow (15th) will see morning temperatures fall below zero in eastern Gyeonggi and the mountainous and inland areas of Gangwon, with similar advisories reiterated for the 16th. These variations necessitate careful attention not only for transportation safety but also for pedestrian safety and agricultural management in light of potential frost impacts on crops.
