A rehabilitated jaguar discovered wearing a dog collar in Roraima is being prepared for its return to the wild in Goiás after showing crucial wild behaviors.

A jaguar that was found with a dog collar in Roraima is undergoing final rehabilitation at the Instituto Nex in Corumbá de Goiás, prior to being released back into its natural habitat. This animal, discovered 14 months ago, was rescued by environmental police on a farm in the municipality of Caroebe, severely dehydrated and injured. Specialists have stated that relearning wild behaviors is essential for the jaguar's successful reintegration into the wild.

Initially treated at the Centro de Triagem de Animais Silvestres (CETAS) in Boa Vista, Roraima, the jaguar underwent necessary medical care for dehydration, injuries, abrasions, and fungal infections before being moved to Brasília. It's reported that the animal has now made a full recovery and is in excellent health, showcasing appropriate weight and strength for its age, signifying its readiness for a return to the wild.

This initiative highlights the ongoing efforts in Brazil to rehabilitate and support wildlife, especially iconic species like the jaguar.
