Sniffer dog locates drugs and police seize over 1kg of crack in Sertão
Police in Alagoas seized 1.225 kg of crack cocaine in a neighborhood in Santana do Ipanema, aided by a sniffer dog, while suspects managed to escape.
In a significant operation, the Military Police of Alagoas (PMAL) confiscated 1.225 kg of crack cocaine in the Cajarana neighborhood of Santana do Ipanema, located in the Sertão region of Alagoas. The drugs were discovered by a trained sniffer dog after suspects fled into a thicket upon noticing the police presence. This highlights the efficacy of canine units in drug detection during law enforcement operations.
Upon discovering a small bag containing drugs, additional support was called in from the Radio Patrol and the ROCAM units to intensify the search efforts. Despite these efforts and the establishment of a police perimeter in the area, the fleeing suspects successfully evaded capture. The operational skills of the PMAL, powered by sophisticated canine assistance, emphasize the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in Brazil's interior regions.
The seized material was promptly taken to the CISP of Santana do Ipanema, where legal procedures were initiated. This incident underscores not only the police's proactive measures in combating drug-related crimes but also the broader context of drug trafficking challenges within Brazil, particularly in vulnerable areas like the Sertão, which have increasingly become hotspots for such illegal activities.
