What are the plans for the new airline Joy
A new regional airline called Joy is set to begin operations in Argentina in June, aiming to connect various cities without central hubs.
In June, a new regional airline named Joy is poised to launch its operations in Argentina. Founded by Juan Maggio, former president of Southern Winds, and four partners, the airline has received approval from the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC). This initiative reflects an effort to enhance connectivity across the country, particularly for travelers seeking alternatives to existing travel routes.
Joy has taken steps to establish its operations by securing leasing agreements for two Bombardier CRJ-200 LR aircraft. These jets, each with a capacity of 50 passengers, are set to arrive in May and are specifically designed to cater to regional routes, thereby facilitating direct connections between cities without the need for travelers to pass through a major hub. This operational model aims to streamline travel and make it more accessible.
In discussions with La Nacion, Maggio highlighted a significant partnership with the governor of Jujuy, indicating that the provincial hub will serve as a launching point for multiple routes connecting to key Argentine cities such as Córdoba, Buenos Aires, and popular tourist destinations. This strategic approach not only aims to capture a share of the growing air travel market in Argentina but also supports regional economic activity by improving accessibility to various locales.
