A new Argentine airline prepares to start flying to domestic destinations: who is behind it and what routes it will operate
A new Argentine airline, JOY Airline, is set to begin domestic flights, enhancing connectivity between Buenos Aires and various provinces with a focus on premium cabotage flights.
JOY Airline, a newly established Argentine airline, is preparing to launch operations within the country's domestic market. Scheduled to begin in April or May pending approval from the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC), JOY Airline aims to enhance connectivity between Buenos Aires and various provinces, offering a premium cabotage flight experience. The airline has already registered with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) as of October and is positioned to enter a competitive aviation landscape.
The airline's initial route will connect Aeroparque in Buenos Aires to Jujuy following a partnership agreement with the provincial government. Subsequent routes planned include Villa Mercedes, Merlo, Córdoba, Iguazú, and Bariloche, expanding its network to critical tourism and regional hubs. This strategic focus on interprovincial connections aims to attract travelers seeking efficient and comfortable domestic travel options.
Additionally, JOY Airline will be entering a market that has seen the emergence of younger competitors like Humming Airways, which was founded by entrepreneurs in their twenties and recently resumed services between Buenos Aires and Villa Gesell. As JOY Airline launches, it will face competition not only from established players but also from these new entrants, which could significantly shape the future landscape of domestic air travel in Argentina.
