The Piraeus Port Authority (PPA S.A.) has recently initiated a collaboration with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, a leading global maritime vehicle transport company. This partnership was marked by the arrival of the vessel 'Tourmaline Ace' at the port of Piraeus, signifying a strategic enhancement in vehicle transportation capabilities to the Greek market. This collaboration not only strengthens the operational capacity of the port but also underscores the growing importance of Piraeus as a regional transport hub.
The 'Tourmaline Ace' is part of Mitsui's state-of-the-art fleet designed specifically for transporting various types of vehicles, including passenger cars and heavy machinery. This vessel can accommodate approximately 5,000 standard-sized vehicles per trip, further solidifying Mitsui's reputation in the vehicle transport sector. Its maiden voyage included the delivery of around 1,000 vehicles, thus catering to the increasing demands of the Greek automotive market and reinforcing Piraeus's critical role in international shipping routes.
In addition to enhancing logistics, this partnership with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines also emphasizes a commitment to sustainability, as the 'Tourmaline Ace' is powered by a liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion system.
