Big temperature difference on 'Friday the 13th'... Snow or rain in Gangwon and Gyeongsang regions
South Korea is expecting rain or snow on Friday the 13th, particularly in the eastern coast and Gyeongsang region, with significant snowfall forecasted in the mountains of Gangwon.
On Friday the 13th, South Korea will experience a cloudy day with rain or snow expected mainly along the eastern coast and in the Gyeongsang region, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration. Significant snowfall is anticipated in the mountainous areas of Gangwon, with forecasts indicating between 2 to 7 cm of snow in the region. Other locations, such as Ulleungdo and Dokdo, are also predicted to receive several centimeters of snow, while the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk and Ulsan may see lighter precipitation.
Temperatures are projected to vary widely, with morning lows ranging from -2 to 4 degrees Celsius and daytime highs between 7 to 14 degrees. These temperatures are consistent with the seasonal averages for this time of year. Major cities are expected to have similar temperature patterns, with Seoul seeing a high of 12 degrees while Busan may reach up to 11 degrees. However, dense fog has been reported in Incheon and the inland areas of Jeolla and Gangwon, which has reduced visibility to below 200 meters.
The weather authorities have advised caution for drivers, particularly on roads near rivers, lakes, or valleys, as the fog may freeze, creating hazardous conditions. While air quality is generally forecasted to be acceptable, short periods of poor air quality may occur in Chungcheong and Jeju regions during the early morning hours.
