Tampere gets a 'Moomin boss' who wants to be as bold as Little My and as down-to-earth as Moomintroll
Heidi Pitkämäki has been appointed as the project manager for Tampere's Moomin initiative, bringing a personal connection and understanding of Moomin values to the role.
Heidi Pitkämäki has been selected by Visit Tampere to take on the role of project manager for the Moomin project in the city. She will transition to this position in early April from her previous role as brand and communications director at Tampere Exhibition and Events. Pitkämäki was chosen because she not only understands the Moomin values but has also developed a personal and warm relationship with the Moomins, particularly influenced by her experience as a mother.
Her fondness for Moomins was strengthened during her family's stay in Sweden when she introduced the animated series as a special connection to her Finnish roots. Pitkämäki reflects on how the Moomin philosophy—embracing nature, compassion for others, and the joy of love—has provided a safe and enriching experience for her children. She emphasizes the importance of these values in fostering a nurturing environment for children.
The position of 'Moomin boss' is a temporary role that reflects a broader effort by the city to enhance its cultural offerings and appeal to families while preserving the essence of the Moomin brand. With her unique background and experience, Pitkämäki aims to blend the playful aspects of the Moomin universe with the grounded values that resonate with both children and parents alike.
