Civil Police carries out operation in Exu against group suspected of involvement in homicides

The Civil Police of Pernambuco has launched Operation 'Interitus' in Exu to dismantle a criminal organization involved in homicides.

The Civil Police of Pernambuco initiated Operation 'Interitus' early on Thursday, focusing on Exu, a municipality in the Sertão region. This operation aims to identify and dismantle a criminal organization suspected of being involved in homicides. During the operation, two arrest warrants and nine search and seizure warrants were executed, all issued by the local jurisdiction's court.

Investigations leading up to this operation began in September 2024, with support from the Intelligence Directorate of the Civil Police of Pernambuco. The operation also saw collaboration from the Military Police of Pernambuco, enhancing the enforcement efforts. The active deployment included a total of 80 law enforcement officials, including delegates, agents, and clerks, showcasing the scale of the operation to combat the criminal activities in the region.

This marked the 17th Qualified Suppression Operation for the year, under the Integrated Interior Directorate II, and was presided over by Delegate José Mota. The ongoing efforts by the Civil Police reflect a commitment to addressing violent crime and enhancing public safety in a region that has been grappling with organized crime and its associated challenges, particularly in relation to homicides.
