A Finnish family from Kouvola returned home after being stranded in Dubai due to Middle Eastern conflict, with heartfelt scenes of joy at the airport.

The Tervolin family from Kouvola finally returned home from their vacation in Dubai after facing significant delays due to escalating conflicts in the Middle East. They traveled to Dubai on February 24, and shortly after their arrival, the situation escalated with airstrikes from the United States and Israel on Iran. The family witnessed an explosion two kilometers from their location, raising their concerns for safety and prompting hopes for early departure from Dubai.

The Finnish Foreign Ministry issued a warning to travelers about the serious and concerning state of affairs in the Middle East on March 1st, underscoring the gravity of the situation. After several canceled flights, the family was relieved to find a flight back to Finland via neighboring Oman. The journey included a lengthy bus transfer to the airport overnight before they could finally board their flight and return home.

Upon arrival in Finland, the family and fellow travelers expressed overwhelming joy at being safe and back on their home soil. According to Paula Tervolin, the mother of the family, passengers rejoiced, with some shedding joyful tears and embracing each other in relief. Their 10-year-old daughter initiated a round of applause that encouraged everyone to celebrate together, highlighting the emotional weight of their experience and the happiness of being home again.
