Announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Finns in the Middle East: Here's how you can get home

Finnish citizens in the Middle East can utilize repatriation flights organized by other countries to return home, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland has issued an announcement regarding the possibility for Finnish citizens currently in the Middle East to return home via repatriation flights organized by various countries. Travelers are responsible for arranging their own onward connections to Finland, as these flights are set to various locations across Europe. The Ministry emphasizes that priority notifications will be sent to those Finns who have registered their travel plans, while they will not manage or provide information regarding flights organized by other nations.

One repatriation flight scheduled by the Ministry is planned to depart from Muscat, Oman to Finland on Sunday. This flight has reportedly drawn interest from around 350 Finnish citizens, although it only has 160 available seats, priced at €1,230 per passenger. The allocation of these seats will be based on the urgency of need, highlighting the challenges faced by those in precarious situations abroad amid ongoing developments in the region.

While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is providing assistance in the form of a dedicated flight, they caution that registration for these flights is often binding, and notifications can occur with very little advance warning. This situation underscores the urgency for Finnish nationals to remain vigilant and responsive to communications from the Ministry during this volatile period, as they navigate their safe return amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
