"Riga Forests" invites to participate in the making of birdhouses

"Riga Forests" is launching birdhouse-making workshops next week as part of an environmental education program to engage residents, especially children, in caring for urban biodiversity.

The company "Riga Forests" is set to begin its birdhouse-making workshops as part of the environmental education initiative "EkVidO" next week, signaling the start of spring activities. The workshops will take place in March and April across company-managed areas and educational institutions, featuring seven events aimed at encouraging community participation in promoting urban biodiversity. The initiative particularly targets children, inviting them to take practical action in their local environment.

The first workshop is scheduled for Monday, March 16, at 14:00 in the Riga Estonian Primary School, where specialists from "Riga Forests" will collaborate with a professional ornithologist. They will educate the children about urban bird life while helping them to construct birdhouses. This event is a collaborative effort involving the school and local community associations from Torņakalns and Atgāzene, highlighting the importance of community engagement in environmental education.

Another workshop will occur on March 17 at Riga's 75th Secondary School, followed by a special event on March 19, coinciding with International Day of Forests. This event will take place at the "EkVidO" environmental education center, focusing on enhancing awareness about forest conservation and species diversity, underscoring the role of community involvement in sustainable practices.
