Launch of TVS's Cheapest Electric Scooter Priced Below 50 Thousand
TVS has launched a new base variant of their electric scooter Orbiter EV, now available for under ₹50,000 with a battery-as-a-service subscription model.
TVS has introduced a new base variant of its electric scooter, the Orbiter EV, which is designed to be more affordable thanks to the innovative battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model. Originally launched last year, this new version allows consumers to purchase the scooter at a much lower upfront cost. The Orbiter V1 is priced at ₹84,500 (ex-showroom) but drops to ₹49,999 when utilizing the BaaS service, which separates the cost of the scooter and the battery subscription.
This BaaS model makes ownership of the TVS Orbiter V1 more accessible, as buyers only need to pay for the scooter; the battery is provided on a subscription basis. The subscription for the battery is set at ₹862 per month, further incentivizing potential buyers looking for budget-friendly electric scooter options. This pricing strategy is expected to resonate well in the Indian market, where affordability is a significant factor for electric vehicle adoption.
Moreover, the launch of this scooter highlights TVS's commitment to promoting sustainable transportation by making electric scooters more attainable for a wider audience. Alongside the Orbiter V1, the company has also released the Orbiter V2 variant, available at a price of ₹59,664, encouraging consumers to consider electric mobility as a viable option for their daily commuting needs.
