Ferry collided with the dock in Nacka – four injured

A ferry collided with a dock in Nacka, Sweden, on Wednesday, injuring four people, two of whom were hospitalized.

A ferry accident occurred at the Saltsjöqvarn ferry terminal in Nacka, Sweden, when the vessel attempted to dock but was traveling too fast, resulting in a violent impact. The accident was reported at 09:59 and led to the ferry's machinery failing temporarily, causing it to drift. Fortunately, the crew managed to restart the engines relatively quickly and were able to bring the ferry back to the dock safely.

Emergency services, including police and ambulance teams, responded swiftly to the scene, where it was reported that several passengers fell as a result of the impact. Four individuals sustained injuries from the collision; however, the local police indicated that their injuries were mild, and two had to be transported to the hospital for treatment. By around 10:40, emergency rescue services had cleared the area.

In response to the incident, a backup vessel has been deployed on line 80 to ensure continued service for passengers. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, focusing on possible negligence in maritime operations, highlighting the need for safety measures in public transportation systems such as ferry services.
