Santos maps vegetarian and vegan establishments; understand
The city of Santos, Brazil, has begun a two-month survey to identify vegetarian and vegan businesses, including restaurants and shops, to strengthen the sector and promote local sustainable development initiatives.
The city government of Santos in São Paulo has initiated a mapping project to identify vegetarian and vegan establishments throughout the city, ranging from restaurants to shops selling organic and artisanal products. This survey is set to last approximately two months and is aimed at inviting local entrepreneurs to participate through an online form, subsequently gathering crucial data about the local market.
According to Fábio Tatsubô, head of the Department of Public Policies ODS, the primary goal of this mapping initiative is to strengthen the vegetarian and vegan sectors while creating cooperative networks connected to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By mapping these businesses, the municipality hopes to enhance visibility and foster cooperation among local enterprises, facilitating the sharing of experiences and potentially connecting them with related events in the region.
The increasing interest in vegan and vegetarian options highlights a growing consumer trend and a shift in lifestyle choices within Santos and beyond. Through this initiative, the local government aims to establish a supportive framework for businesses in the vegetarian and vegan market, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable local economy and improving community access to diverse food choices that align with healthy and environmentally conscious living.
