Double Hoy No Circula Activated Due to Contingency: Which Cars Cannot Circulate This Wednesday, March 11?
The environmental authorities in Mexico City have implemented a double 'Hoy No Circula' automotive restriction to combat air pollution due to elevated ozone levels.
On March 10, the Commission for Environmental Protection of the Megalopolis (CAMe) declared Phase I of the Atmospheric Environmental Contingency for ozone in the Mexico Valley Metropolitan Area. This declaration aims to combat serious air quality issues stemming from high levels of ozone pollution, necessitating immediate restrictions on vehicle circulation. The authorities have taken this measure to ensure the health and safety of residents amidst alarming pollution levels.
For Wednesday, March 11, specific guidelines have been set regarding vehicle circulation. The restrictions will apply between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM, affecting vehicles categorized under different verification holograms. Cars with a verification hologram of '2' must not circulate, as well as those with hologram '1' whose final digits are 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9. Moreover, vehicles with holograms '0' and '00' marked in red, particularly those ending with license plate numbers 3 or 4, are also included in the restriction.
The activation of this vehicular restriction is significant as it follows a pattern of increasing air pollution concerns in the area. Such measures underscore the ongoing efforts by authorities to mitigate health risks associated with poor air quality, and they also highlight the need for continuous public compliance to improve environmental conditions. The communityβs response to these restrictions will be crucial in addressing and reducing atmospheric contamination in the region.
