Two extortionists arrested with six firearms in Naranjal
Two individuals allegedly intimidating residents of Naranjal with extortion messages were arrested with six firearms in their possession.
Authorities in Naranjal, Ecuador, have arrested two individuals suspected of extorting local residents through intimidating messages. The arrests were made by police during a raid on a residence linked to the suspects, who were reportedly involved in firing shots at commercial establishments and homes, in addition to committing armed robberies. The Ministry of the Interior confirmed that the arrests were part of a broader effort to combat extortion and violence in the region.
During the operation, law enforcement seized a substantial arsenal from the suspects, including an industrially manufactured submachine gun, a rifle, two pistols, and two revolvers. Additional evidence included 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 68 rounds of 2.2302 caliber ammunition, alongside several mobile phones and a stolen vehicle. This significant recovery of firearms is indicative of the serious nature of the crimes being investigated and the potential threat posed to the community.
