Unclaimed Funds: There are still R$ 10.5 billion forgotten in banks; see how to consult and withdraw values
The Central Bank of Brazil reported that there are still R$ 10.49 billion in unclaimed funds left by customers in financial institutions.
On Tuesday, the Central Bank of Brazil announced that there remains R$ 10.49 billion in 'forgotten resources' among financial institutions. This balance includes funds recorded up until January of this year, and it indicates that a significant sum of money is still waiting to be claimed by its rightful owners. Of this total, R$ 8.1 billion belongs to over 49.52 million individual account holders, while R$ 2.38 billion is associated with approximately 5.09 million businesses.
To date, the Central Bank has successfully returned R$ 13.75 billion in forgotten funds to customers. The Central Bank's system enables individuals and businesses to check if they have left any money behind in banks, consortia, or other financial organizations. Initially, there was a deadline set for October 16, 2024, for these claims; however, the Ministry of Finance has clarified that there is currently no deadline for customers to recover their unclaimed funds.
The article provides guidance on how individuals can consult and claim their forgotten money, emphasizing the importance of taking action to recover funds that may otherwise remain lost. It serves as a reminder to account holders to check their financial standings and not overlook potential resources that could aid them financially in uncertain economic times.
