Amount of forgotten money in banks is R$ 10.5 billion; see how to withdraw

The Brazilian Central Bank reports that there is R$ 10.5 billion in forgotten money in the financial system, with most funds belonging to individual account holders.

According to the Brazilian Central Bank's updated data from the System of Values to Receive (SVR), there is still R$ 10.5 billion in forgotten money across the financial system. Of this total, R$ 8.1 billion is held by approximately 49.5 million individual customers, while R$ 2.4 billion belongs to 5 million corporate entities. In January, customers withdrew R$ 403.3 million from the SVR, indicating a consistent effort by the Central Bank to reconnect people with their forgotten funds.

To access this forgotten money, individuals must make a free consultation via the SVR website by entering their CPF or CNPJ (for businesses). If any amount is available, they must log in through a Gov.br account with silver or gold status. Interestingly, despite the large volume of unclaimed money, most individuals are entitled to relatively small sumsβ€”with about 40.7 million people having balances of up to R$ 10 and 14.5 million having between R$ 10 and R$ 100. Since the launch of the program, the Central Bank has successfully returned R$ 13.8 billion to account holders, suggesting a proactive approach to reducing forgotten funds in the banking system.
